COAI and American Specialty Insurance have teamed up to provide COAI Members with the most comprehensive Liability and Equipment insurance benefits.
American Specialty has specialized in the Entertainment industry for over 30 years and offers new technology making the COAI Insurance program even easier!
Members will now be able to purchase coverage and create any needed “additional insured” certificates of insurance online in minutes. The online portal, www.insurecoai.org is available 24/7.
We at Clowns of America International are happy to report to our members that Arch Insurance (the carrier for COAI Insurance) is actively listening to the needs and wants of our COAI membership.
We are also one of the few entertainer insurance programs to cover outdoor bubble and foam performances! (Note: Night Club and indoor bubble/foam performers are not covered.)
The Cost of COAI Insurance is starts at $150 for one entertainer with a $30 insurance program fee.
There is NO deductible for COAI Insurance.
There is NO additional cost for any certificates.
You can add an Assistant for as little as $60
COAI is NOT a Group Aggregate.
Each Policy is completely an Individual Policy. We do not share limits in a group. Your policy will never be affected by anyone else’s claim in any way.
COAI simply wants to give our members an insurance policy that we all can be proud of. Our members have been loyal to our organization which is why it is so important for COAI to have insurance we all can be proud of. COAI does NOT get anything from the insurance company in return. This policy was put together strictly for the benefit of our members. All we want to do is offer our membership what they have asked for and deserve at a competitive price.
Only YOU can decide what’s best for you. Insurance is personal and must fit the individual’s needs and wants. COAI is very proud to offer this benefit to our membership and we hope our members will take advantage of it.

How long is my policy period?
Annual Coverage. When purchasing coverage online, you can select your desired effective date of coverage. Your policy will expire one year from your selected effective date.
How much is COAI insurance?
Premium rates start at only $180! (that includes $150 for the policy with a $30 insurance program fee.) This is a general Liability policy exclusively offered to members of COAI that fall under the business operations of Clowns, Balloon Twisters, Face Painters, Santas, etc.
General Liability policy limits available:
- $1M per Occurrence / $5M general aggregate
- Optional Equipment coverage
- Optional Non-Owned & Hired Automobile Coverage
- Other optional riders to fit your specific needs
Is there an additional charge for adding additional Insures (Example adding a name on my policy for working a at mall or festival)?
You can add additional insured to your policy at any time during your policy term for NO ADDITIONAL PREMIUM.
What is the turnaround time?
Certificates are available immediately! You will be able to view a proof of coverage certificate immediately after your purchasing your coverage online at www.insurecoai.org. If you need an additional insured certificate, you will be able to access your policy information and create any needed certificates of insurance online. When you arrive to the website, enter your payment confirmation number and you can create your certificate right online.
Who can get COAI insurance?
You must be a member of COAI, but COAI is open to Clowns, Santas, Magicians, Balloon Artists, Jugglers, Face Painters Storytellers, Puppeteers, Bubble/Foam Performers, etc.
If I use assistants, can they be covered?
Yes assistants can be covered. Prices start at $60 per assistant.
How can we get COAI insurance?
First join COAI. We can take insurance applications over the phone, by email, or on our website. There is always a person available to talk about the coverage, the program etc. Office hours are 8:30-5:00 EST.
Is bodily injury or property damage covered?
YES, Any bodily injury or property damage to other people’s things is covered. There is NO DEDUCTIBLE on Bodily injury OR PROPERTY DAMAGE
